USA RECONFIRMS IT'S SUPPORT FOR MACEDONIA

The United States has reconfirmed its support to Macedonia's NATO bid, Macedonian Defense Minister Lazar Elenovski said in Washington.
Elenovski met with the US Defense Secretary Robert Gates and the Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England and they reassured him that the US is fully committed to supporting Macedonia on its road to NATO
"We have developed excellent political and military relations. Along with the Albanian Defense Minister Fatmir Mediu we had a working breakfast with the Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England. We exchanged information concerning the ongoing defense reform in Macedonia and Albania in the process of integration into NATO. The US reiterated its support and expressed gratitude to Macedonia's contribution in peacekeeping missions," Elenovski told Radio Voice of America's Macedonian news.
"In the course of talks in Pentagon, we had a brief meeting with the Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who pledged a strong support to the Adriatic Group on the road to NATO membership.
Elenovski said the US did not ask Macedonia to send extra troops to Iraq and Afghanistan.
"There was no concrete request although we are well aware that our obligations go arm in arm with the rights. As we move closer to the Alliance, given the demands spelled out at NATO summit in Riga to all potential members, we are getting ready in this regard.
