MANCEVSKI, TRPCEVSKI, TRAJANOV, JANEVSKI BECOME AMBASSADORS OF CULTURE
Culture.
Honorary title Ambassador of Culture has become official after MPs recently passed the amendments to the Law on Culture. It is almost certain that this title will belong to director Milco Mancevski, who is to promote Macedonian culture in USA, then pianist Simon Trpceski, who will represent the country in Great Britain, opera singer Boris Trajanov, who will spread Macedonian culture in Italy, as well as Vlado Janevski, who will “cover” Croatia and Slovenia.
The Ministry of Culture presented the initiative for the new title, in order to affirm the top class artistic achievements of our artists, as well as better promotion of Macedonia abroad.
The Minister of Culture will propose the ambassadors, followed by the Government’s approval. A condition for an artist to receive the title is to have a Macedonian citizenship, an individual who has confirmed his/her achievements in culture in Macedonia and abroad. The title is honorary and non-profit. Although the recognition is informal and non-institutional, the artist should give consent that he personally accepts to be engaged for the cultural promotion of Macedonia.
“Culture should be treated as an important means in order to bring people closer, as well as enable dialogue of different cultures. Through the development of multi-culture, Macedonia needs to develop new forms for promotion of the significant and invaluable artistic work and cultural heritage. Through the introduction of title Ambassador of Culture, we expect a qualitative leap in the international affirmation and presentation of Macedonian culture worldwide”, say ministry officials.
MD: Great initiative, they will be excellent ambassadors, presenting Macedonia and it's culture in the best possible way!
