KORONIA, Flamingos search for food in the waters of Lake Koronia, 30 km east of the Aegean Macedonian city of Solun (Thessaloniki). A key habitat plagued by drought, overpumping for crops and pollution for over a decade, the lake is now also threatened by toxic bacteria which according to Greek scientists could decimate the local ecosystem.
