AUSTRIA OFFERS TO MEDIATE
National.
Austria wishes to mediate in settling of Macedonia-Greece name row, Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger told TV ORF on Sunday.
He expressed hope for the EU-Macedonia cooperation to present 'tangible results' in this year.
Spindelegger announced that he, along with Greek officials, would launch a 'Western Balkan initiative' at the EU, aimed to bring the Western Balkan countries closer to the Union.
He also expressed hope that Croatia would wrap up the accession negotiations in the course of 2010.
In mid-terms I believe that Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Albania will be EU members by 2020, the Austrian FM said.
It is also necessary for all EU member states to recognize Kosovo, he said.
- Kosovo's approximation to the EU is part of the Austrian initiative for Western Balkans, Spindelegger said.
