MACEDONIAN BUSINESSMEN IN USA DEBATE INVESTMENTS IN MACEDONIA
Diaspora.
Businessmen of Macedonian descent in the United States want to invest in Macedonia, but require more support and openness from the state, despite the implemented reforms for liberalization of the economic sector in recent years.
Participants at the business forum, organized by Macedonia's consulate in Chicago, debated the attraction of foreign investments in time of the global economic crisis.
According to businessmen, concrete steps for prevention of the 'brain-drain' in the globalized world, especially from the IT sector are required, reports Voice of America-Macedonian Language Program.
"There are possibilities for investments in the field of small production. A good thing in recent years is the fact that an increasing number of Macedonians speak the English language, something which U.S. companies appreciate. Company Johnson Controls is a good example of this", said Mitre Kutanovski, who has worked in American Express for 30 years.
However, there are also businessmen who tried to invest, but received a negative response.
"Everyone living in the diaspora is ready to do something for Macedonia. The question is how much they are ready to absorb our investments", stressed Nuri Ibraimi, who has lived in the United States for a decade.
