Revitalization of sports and recreational and cultural and historical complexes in Prilep within two projects “Mogila in Prilep” and “Varos – Culture of Town, Tradition – Revitalization of Markovi Kuli Complex” has been granted 120,000 euros by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. More than 150 citizens working on eight conceptual ideas were involved actively in the six-month forum process in Prilep.
Besides citizens, the selection session was attended by the Swiss Ambassador to Macedonia, Thomas Fuglister, Prilep Mayor Marjan Risteski and the Director of the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia, Vladimir Milcin. The citizens decided that the funds were allotted for projects related to arrangement of Varos and Mogila, Boris Sarkovski, the Coordinator of the project said.
The idea of the Moogila is to refine the area and create suitable conditions for sports and recreational activities for citizens, visitors including people with special needs. Construction of paths, sports grounds, a water supply system, a skate park, a children’s park, ponds, fountains and illumination of the monument are planned.

The Varos project offers creation of preconditions for exploiting cultural and natural values of the Markovi Kuli (Marko Towers) Complex at the Varos settlement. Architectural arrangement of a multimedia central point for Varos is planned as is a plateau and tourist path and preparation of advertising material.
By the end of this calendar year, Prilep should get two magnificently arranged cultural and historical sections enriched with an interesting and useful infrastructure.
