The new system of issuing biometric passports in Macedonia formally started on Monday in Skopje where Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska opened the new passport system.
According to statement released by passport issuance sector, six base stations will be installed at the premises of MRT building. The citizens can apply for new passports in these premises.
Additional 39 base stations will open in 29 other offices of the Interior Ministry. The applicants can take photographs and give the necessary biometric data there.
The documents required for passport application will be the same as for the current passports except for photographs, which will no longer be required.
The price of forms for new passports is put at 1.500 Denars (€ 24.37). The administrative tax for children under 4 is put at 50 Denars; 250 Denars for persons under 27 and 500 Denars for persons under 27.
