Macedonian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman Shpresa Jusufi told Makfax news agency that the forum will bring together ministers of foreign affairs, defense and economy. One of the themes will be energy security.
NATO Secretary General Jaap De Hoop Scheffer will chair the Ohrid forum, organized by NATO and hosted by Macedonia. The highlights of the two-day forum will include Kosovo, Afghanistan and energy security. "This will be an extra promotion of the Republic of Macedonia as candidate-country for NATO membership and serious partner of EPAC given the fact that the country proved itself as a firm partner within EAPC," Jusufi said.
The forum, which aims to expand discussion within EAPC through informal stands that can set guidelines on further work of the Council, will be attended by prominent policy-makers and NGOs. Also invited are representatives of multinational energy companies to discuss energy safety, one of the themes of Ohrid forum.
The Partnership Commission of the Adriatic Charter meets at the completion of six-month coordination of a member-state of the Adriatic Charter. Macedonia was a coordinator-country in the period of January-June this year.
