National.

United Nations Under-Secretary-General and UNDP's Associate Administrator Ad Melkert will pay a two-day visit to Macedonia on 6-7 July.

The main objective of his visit is to familiarize with the challenges and opportunities of Macedonia in achieving the Millennium Development Goals, and with the work of UNDP to that effect in cooperation with the Government and other partners.

During his stay in the country, Under-Secretary-General Melkert will meet with President Branko Crvenkovski, Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Stavrevski and Foreign Minister Antonio Miloshoski. Melkert will also meet other figures in order to get familiar with the diverse development perspectives of the country, to the progress of which UNDP assistance has contributed.

In the frames of this visit, the Under Secretary-General will also visit several municipalities in order to get familiar with the process of decentralization which is one of the key elements for democratization of the country, says the press release from UNDP.
