MACEDONIAN TOURISTS SURPRISED IN GREECE
"For the Skopians with the MK sticker. Be ashamed! You are criminals who steal the history of other people! You are slav's who don't have a history! Macedonia is and was always Greek! Go home! You are not welcome and don't return!"
Vest newspaper informs that this message written on photocopied A4 papers was sticked to almost every car with Macedonian licence plates which were parked at the parking lot in front of the IKEA shopping center in Solun (Thessaloniki) last weekend. At the other side of the paper there was printed a map of Macedonia written "Vardarska Banovina" over it.
"I'm sick and tired of the xenophobic and paranoia behavior of some of the Greeks. We come here as tourists, spend money and we don't provocate the Greeks with any of this nationalistic stuff. It's obvious the Greeks don't want good neighbourly relations." said a tourist from Skopje, who himself found such a paper on his vehicle. He added that even if the tourists were angry, they have not complained about it at the Greek authorities.
Macedonian police said that only last thursday and friday about 20.000 people entered Greece at the Bogorodica border crossing. The biggest part of the Macedonians stayed in Greece untill Sunday evening to use their connected holiday days to the maximum.
MD: Besides the tension between these two countries, it seems that only the Greeks have problems, not the Macedonians. We don't think such thing ever happened to Greek tourists in Macedonia. They are always welcomed with open arms. But we must say, that we're glad not all Greeks are like this.
