BAKOYANNIS: SOLUTION TO NAME DISPUTE MUST NOT INCLUDE WORD MACEDONIA
National.
For Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis a mutually acceptable solution to Athens-Skopje name dispute is a term that does not include the word Macedonia.
- Greece does not accept the name of our northern neighbor to contain the word Macedonia or its modifications, Bakoyannis says in an interview with the Greek daily Kathimerini.
Athens will accept various names as possible solutions that only link "FYROM with the name Macedonia as a geographical region", the Greek Foreign Minister says.
The time for resolving the name dispute is running out, Kathimerini says, pointing out that Greece is ready for a 'fair compromise' on the matter.
- Athens is also determined to exercise its veto right within NATO if Skopje holds on its stance, the daily says.
MD: And another desperate statement. The Greeks are getting nervous, now they know that they are losing this battle.

WRONG! Please correct? Probably not. Anyhow, Bakoyannis never said to the Greek newspaper Kathimarini that FYR Macedonia must 'not include word Macedonia'. The article says, "Η Αθήνα έτοιμη για σύνθετη oνομασία" (Athens ready for a composite name), a name that includes it.
