NEW FINDINGS IN BANJA BANSKO SPA

Late Roman thermal spa in Banja Bansko, dating from the mid-third century, hides a vast archaeological material, which has not been discovered.
A new facility has been discovered, along with a statue of God Mercury, who was believed to posses healing powers when treating illnesses.
This is the first discovery of Mercury statues at Bansko excavation site. Previously, little bronze statues of the God had been discovered at the spa resort. This time, three pedestals for sculptures and pottery have been found as well.
The new facility in the immediate vicinity of the resort has been discovered with the new round of archaeological researches at excavation site Terma at Banja Bansko.
