Culture.

Over 300 posters from all over the world have arrived at the first international student poster contest in Macedonia titled “Tolerance-Global Challenge”.An international jury will select the best, which will be displayed in Skopje Museum as of June 20.

The contest is organized by association “Plakart”, which plans to hold the contest as a biennial. The project is realized in cooperation with the Skopje Museum, funded by the Ministry of Culture and the City of Skopje.

Young people at the age of 18-28, students from the fine arts and graphic design academies are entitled to take part. Posters should possess an artistic, and not commercial value, meeting the contest’s goal – moving tolerance from the sidelines of social communication.
They should focus on sociological aspects, such as poor social conditions, social dependence of youth, ethnic and class intolerance, as well as raise the awareness in creating a bridge for cooperation among diverse culture. The contest is also an opportunity for international contest of ideas and creation of posters that represent a powerful took for mass communication.

The best posters will be selected by an international jury, chaired by Lech Mayewsky, president of the Warsaw Poster Biennial, which is first of this kind in the world.

The display in the Skopje Museum will be open until July 5.
