MACEDONIAN FILMS IN NEW YORK

Screening of “I Am from Titov Veles” of director Teona Strugar-Mitevska on Thursday evening will mark the opening of the Macedonian Film Festival in New York.
The films will be projected in one of New York’s most famous cinemas “East Village Cinema”.
The festival, which is part of the Days of Macedonian Culture in USA, will be closed with Milco Mancevski’s “Before the Rain” and “Dust”. The program also includes “Contact” of Sergej Andreevski, “The Great Water” of Ivo Trajkov, “Bal-Can-Can” of Darko Mitrevski, “Happy New ‘49” and “Dae” of Stole Popov, “Black Seed” of Kiril Cenevski, “Mirage” of Svetozar Ristovski, and “Upside Down” of Igor Ivanov.
The festival is organized by the Macedonian Film Fund, and a special website has been launched www.usmacedonianfilmfestival.com.
In the framework of Days of Macedonian Culture in USA, Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska opened on Monday exhibition “Contemporary Macedonian Painting”, including artworks by Zaneta Vangeli, Antoni Maznevski, Stanko Pavleski, Tome Adzievski, Jovan Sumkovski, Blagoja Manevski, Resat Ameti and Goce Nanevski.
These events follow the performance of Macedonian piano virtuoso Simon Trpceski, accompanied by the Chicago Symphonic Orchestra.
Days of Macedonian Culture in USA will be completed in Washington, with an exhibition of Dimce Isajlovski and concert of artists Boris Trajanov, Dragan Dautovski and Aleksandar Stefanoski, accompanied on piano by Darko Marinkovski.
