OHRID MAYOR GOES ON VACATION WHILE CITY IS DEALING WITH FLOODING DANGER
National.
The Ohrid Mayor Aleksandar Petreski's trip to Australia is an inadmissible mistake, his party chief Branko Crvenkovski said on Thursday, when asked to tell if it's the right time for trip abroad amid flood threat.
He added that the SDSM has urged Petreski to cut short the Australia trip and return to Ohrid as soon as possible.
Asked if the party would urge the Ohrid mayor to resign, SDSM leader said no such move is necessary for the time being.
Ohrid's mayor had made hysterical calls to the "World" just few days ago, claiming the Government has left Ohrid (UNESCO heritage site) to be flooded even though it was official Skopje who sent 200 soldiers which placed 13,000 sandbags along the lakeline shore.
Aleksandar Petreski's calls for help were quickly replaced with a joyful announcement he is leaving for Vacation which was condemned by Ohrid residents as well as Government officials.
MD: Although in our opinion the 'flooding' danger is a bit exaggerated (It seems to be more like hysteria instead of real danger) It was probably not the best time for him to go on holiday.
