'DOES IT HURT?' AWARDED FOR BEST POSTER
Culture.
Macedonian film “Does It Hurt? The First Balkan Dogma” by Aneta Lesnikovska was awarded for the best poster in the Rotterdam Film Festival, an award conferred by the Screen magazine. Having been attached at any place where the festival programme was on, the poster was overwhelmingly present at the Festival.
The author of the poster is Slobodan Jakoski, a part of the Skopje art group NMP that worked on the promotional materials accompanying the film. Jakoski says the idea of the poster is best summarized in the slogan of the film: “Fiction-Based Reality.”
“Because it is about a dogma film, which by definition focuses on reality, and about a specific dogma film – because it is a film about shooting a film - I thought it was a good idea to make the promotional material as much surreal, provocative and bombastic, and even Hollywood-like as possible, i.e. to focus it on fiction creating reality. Certainly, I wanted to preserve the basic references of the film: Skopje (the city that literally springs out of earth), Macedonia (yes, the sun is supposed to remind of our country), Irena Ristic (shooting with the video camera), the watermelon (you will see the film). This is a documentary about the reality of the urban, and not so urban, life in Skopje, where we actually realize that our reality is more of a film than reality.
MD: Cool, that's a nice award also!
