KOKINO PRESENTED IN BULGARIA

Upon the invitation of the Astronomy Institute within the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Astronomy Department within the Physics Faculty at university “St. Kliment Ohridski” in Sofia, megalith observatory Kokino was presented before the Bulgarian scientific public.
The scientific seminar also included the lectures of Gjore Canev, manager of the Planetarium within Skopje’s Youth Cultural Center, and Jovica Stankovski, director of Kumanovo Museum.“Lectures aroused huge interest, followed by scientific discussion. The significance of megalith observatory Kokino was once again reaffirmed as an exceptional monument and representative of an ancient culture that had existed at the Balkan space”, said Canev.
Discussions touched upon topics on joint research and visits of scientists in the fields of astronomy and archaeology with the objective of contributing to the resolution of the open issues related to the development of communities and their cultures that had existed at the Balkan space about 4,000 years ago.
Scientific lecture on ancient observatory Kokino will also be held in city Smolen on Wednesday
