After the controversial plane “Tito – Certain Diagrams of Desire,” Bitola audience are facing another theatre provocation. This time, it is “Vagina Monologues” by Eve Ensler directed by Martin Kocovski. The National Theatre is announcing the opening of the play for 27th May.
“The play about the Marshal has lifted so much dust out of the theatre building, and this play offers provocation that will occur onstage,” Art Director of the Bitola National Theatre Saso Ognenovski says. He explains that the author, Eve Ensler wrote the play as the result of her research, interviews and discussions with women from different cultures and nations. “We are working on the text that speaks about the female body as a taboo,” Ognenovski says.
Director Kocovski will develop the plot as an ode to the woman’s sexual organ that includes all of its aspects. “Here, we do not see the vagina as a sexual organ but an organ giving us our lives and serving as the gate to the world.”
The cast includes Ilina Corevska, Menka Bojadzieva, Julijana Stefanova, Elena Mose, and Petar Spirovski.
