OHRID IS OBLIGED TO PRESERVE HISTORICAL AND NATURAL HERITAGE
National.
Many countries in the world are doing everything to be on the list of UNESCO's cultural heritage, and Ohrid and its lake already have this privilege. However, UNESCO's list also means obligations for maintenance and adequate preservation of cultural and natural heritage and Ohrid to withstand the modern challenges and to keep its quality.
Hans d'Orville, Director of UNESCO's Bureau for Strategic Planning, said this during his visit to St. Naum monastery and St. Kliment temple at Plaosnik on Sunday.
D'Orville who is considered second man in UNESCO stressed the good co-operation between this world organisation and the Macedonian Government stressing that Ohrid deserves such attention since "this is the place where one of the first Universities was established and great culture originates and starts from this place."
In October Ohrid will host the conference of religious leaders from entire world and this is the right place where spiritual dialogue for peace and mutual understanding will be led, Hans d'Orville, Director of UNESCO's Bureau for Strategic Planning, said
MD: Some were even worried, Ohrid would lose it's status as "Unesco protected heritage". That's probably not going to happen, but Macedonia has to understand the value of this.
