SKOPJE IN THE DARK

National.

The street illumination in Skopje was shut off for half an hour, as a warning from the electricity company EVN to city authorities to pay the pending debt of 2 million Euros.

City authorities and the Government again failed to reach an agreement on Thursday on who should pay the debt.

The Mayor or Skopje, Trifun Kostovski, announced that he will not allow the city to pay even one Denar for the street illumination debt, because the money the city was supposed to receive for that purpose ended up in municipalities.

On the other hand, the Minister of Finance Trajko Slavevski said Skopje's mayor should fix the communication between the city and its municipalities.
