DENIALS AND ACCUSATIONS ON SKOPJE HOTEL TENDER

National.

The British company HLK UK LTD that was granted a license to build a hotel in Skopje at the location across from the Ramstore shopping center, had met all terms and conditions of the public bidding procedure.

Government's spokesman Ivica Bocevski said this at a press conference prompted by the opposition SDSM's accusations of wrongdoings in the bidding procedure.

This party claims that the domestic company ORKA is the actual company that stands behind the pending construction of the hotel, whose owners have close ties with the Mijalkov family as well as with the PM Nikola Gruevski.

Spokesman Bocevski did not give a concrete answer on the repeatedly asked question if and how is the textile company ORKA related to the company that won the tender for construction of the hotel.

The Government's spokesman just reiterated the conditions of the tender, which, according to him, were met by the British company. He also pointed out that if the company fails to comply with the requirement for completing the construction within 24 months, the Government will activate the banking guarantee totaling €1 million, which has already been delivered.

ORKA company issued a press release today, denying holding ownership or any stake in the company that was pointed out as a buyer of the construction land in downtown Skopje.
