SIX WILDFIRES STILL BLAZING

Six wildfires are blazing in Macedonia, Crises Management Center (CMC) said.. The forest fire near the village of Oreshe, Veles area, has been burning for a sixth consecutive day, consuming 200-250 hectares of forest. As many as 35 firefighters and five firefighters from the municipality of Caska are battling the blaze. The inaccessible terrain hampers the firefighting efforts.
A fire broke out on a mountainside of Galicica near Gota and it spreads south toward Divja Jasika. Part of the blaze has been contained but most of it is still blazing and is likely to spread. A fire is blazing near the village of Zajas, Kicevo area, since Wednesday. Some 30 locals are battling the blaze and they demand extra men and equipment to contain the blaze.
The Center also informs about a fire that broke out near the villages of Boista and Virovo, consuming some 250 hectares of forest land. Some 30 firefighters from the Bigla Forestry public enterprise are battling the blaze.
A fire broke out near the village of Lavci, Resen area, consuming 20 hectares of grass and bush, with possible endangerment of Beech forest, CMC reports. Late Friday, a fire also broke out in the locality Preseka near Ohrid, where dry grass and oak wood burn.
MD: Rain was anounced these days, so let's hope the fires will end soon. It will take for sure about 40 years for the trees to return like they were before.
