Culture.
Makedonska Rech Publisher has published “Book on Macedonia” by Czech painter, musicologist, ethnologist and author Ludvik Kuba, translated by Prof. Dr. Donka Danilovska-Rous, Professor at the Faculty of Philology.
Kuba's travel book subtitled “Trips and Studies 1925-1927” was first published in Prague in 1932 and was the result of the author’s visit and stay in Macedonia. He came to Macedonia to study Macedonian songs, customs and costumes. In Ohrid, he met his compatriot – ethnologist and musicologist Julius Komarek, who had come to study the locusts.
Ludvik Kuba (1863-1956) worked as a Professor of Painting at the Academy of Painting in Prague. His works include landscapes, still life and portraits and is valuable for the development of Czech impressionism and color drawings. Kuba’s works are a part of the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje.
