GOVERNMENT PASSED LAW ON GRANTING VOUCHERS FOR GRADUATES TO BUY COMPUTERS

All students in state and private universities in the country that enrolled their last year will receive vouchers valued at Denar 12.300 for buying computers, PM Nikola Gruevski said at Sunday’s press conference.
- Government at its session on Saturday passed the law on issuing vouchers valued at Denar 12.300 i.e. Euro 200 for all students that enrolled the last year. With this vouchers they can buy computers in any shop. This is direct subvention of the Government for citizens to buy computers, Gruevski said, adding that the vouchers will be valid until Dec. 15, 2007.
According to the data of the Ministry of Education around of 10.000 students have enrolled the final year. If some vouchers remain unused they will be annulled by the Commission of the Interior Ministry and Finance Ministry aimed at preventing their misuse.
PM Nikola Gruevski said that draft law will be submitted to the parliament on Monday and its approval is expected by the end of the week.
- The 21st century is the century of digital literacy, Internet and global network. We must not allow digital gap between Macedonia and world economies to increase. With this law the vision of the Government "Macedonia Country of Computer Experts" continues, Gruevski said.
