Macedonia has been chosen as "European Economic Development Region" for 2008 by the international Institute of Transport Management (ITM), Government's official said today.
Viktor Mizo, the Director of the Macedonian Agency for Foreign Investments said that six companies - members of the Institute raised the initiative for Macedonia to receive this recognition.
The award will be presented to the Government's Agency "Invest in Macedonia" at an official ceremony, due in London on 26 November.
"Macedonia will have an opportunity to present directly the favorable investing conditions to as many as 200 representatives of renowned companies of the automotive industry," Mizo said.
He explained that this recognition is awarded on the basis of several criteria, including business climate, privileges to multi-national companies, taxation system and tax rates, infrastructure and modalities of promotion before the foreign investors.
"As much as 17.500 companies engaged in the transportation industry are members of the Institute. This award was introduced 30 years ago, however it is not given on a yearly basis, but only when some region deserves it," Mizo said.
