NEW PHILHARMONIC CONCERT HALL
Culture.
Construction of a modern symphonic concert hall is one of the several capital structures in culture the Ministry of Culture plans to construct by 2010. The start of construction work for the new Philharmonic hall is planned for May 2008.
The winner of the tender for conceptual design of the Macedonian Philharmonic, architect Viktor Mihajlov, is expected to hand the master design for the building at the Ministry of Culture.
“Since it was general conclusion that Mihajlov’s conceptual design was very good, we decided to assign the author to make the master design as well. After some legal matters - announcement of tenders for a designing company and a construction company are carried out, a start of construction of the Philharmonic is planned in May next year,” State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture Elizabeta Kanceva Milevska says.
The new Macedonian Phiharmonic will be located between the Macedonian Opera and Ballet House and the Faculty of Music Art in Skopje. The building, which is planned to be completed by early 2009, will have two concert halls - a grand one with 1000 to 1200 seats, and a small 300-seat concert hall intended for chamber music and specific music concerts such as jazz or ethno music concerts.
MD: And another project to be realized soon, look's good!
