THIRD MEETING ON COMPLETION OF CORRIDOR 10

The third coordination meeting on the project of completion of the Corridor 10 - the highway section Demir Kapija-Smokvica - began today in Skopje.
Macedonian Deputy Minister in charge of European Integration, Gabriela Konevska-Trajkovska opened the meeting, attended by representatives of the European Commission (EC), European Investment Bank (EIVB) and the Greek Foreign Ministry.
In her introductory address, she stressed the importance of completion of Corridor 10 and expressed hopes that today's consultations would lead to execution of the final stage of the project.
The highlights of the meeting will include also presentation of the progress in preparations and of the financial aspects of the project, an official announcement says.
The total value of the investment is set to €155 million, covered by the European Commission , European Investment Bank, Greek Foreign Ministry as well as from the Macedonian Budget and the 2007-2009 Fiscal Strategy.
A Feasibility Study, Study on the Corridor's Impact on the Environment, Operational Program on Regional Development on which funds from the IPA Funds will be allocated, have been elaborated so far. At the same time, the Macedonian Government set out negotiations with EIB for approving a loan, while the Secretariat for European Affairs and the Roads Fund prepared an Application for Grant from the Greek Plan for Economic Renewal of Balkans.
This will create conditions for elaboration of a Principle Project and of tender documentation for the contractor.
The third coordination meeting on the project of completion of the Corridor 10 has been set up by the Secretariat for European Affairs, Ministry of Transportation and Communication and the Roads Fund.
