DIMITROV: MACEDONIA CONSTRUCTIVE IN NAME NEGOTIATIONS
National.
The Republic of Macedonia is dedicated to taking active and constructive participation in the process of overcoming the differences about its name with Greece, but it won't make concessions on the constitutional name.
Macedonian negotiator in the name differences with Greece, Nikola Dimitrov, said this after the state leaders' meeting with mediator Matthew Nimetz on Monday in Skopje, MakFax news agency reports.
"In that approach, Macedonia will start primarily with the highest state interest for preservation and protection of the nation's identity, which is sublimated in the constitutional name", Dimitrov said.
He pointed out that talks of Macedonian state leaders with mediator Nimetz were in "positive atmosphere".
Macedonian side offered arguments and explanations as to why it doesn't embrace the part of the draft framework that Nimetz submitted to the two sides recently, where he suggests Macedonia to have name for international use different from the constitutional one.
Dimitrov announced that a new round of mediated talks in New York could be expected immediately after New Year's holidays.
