ARTIST FROM OHRID DONATES SCULPTURE TO GERMAN CITY
Diaspora.
Boris Dzeparoski from Ohrid, who lives in Germany is a artist in making wooden sculptures. Many of you may know the wooden sculpture of Sv.Naum standing in front of the Church seen when visiting Sv.Naum. That sculpture is Boris's work.
The city authorities of Dornhan, Germany where he lives, have asked Boris recently to make a sculpture of two old trees. Boris was delighted of the invitation so after a while of thinking he started to make a sculpture named, "Macedonia-Phoenix".
He says he has been inspired by the tragic helicopter accident on 12th of january. He made the wooden sculpture in 3 days, and it was handed over on the 25th, the birthday of Tose.
Boris is a big fan of Tose, so he decided to hand the sculpture over exactly on that day, which is his gift to the city of Dornhan and is meant as a symbol of Macedonian-German friendship.
The sculpture, which is high almost 3 metres, represents a women who is holding a Phoenix in her hands. The women stands for Macedonia, and while holding the Phoenix, she is immortal. The wings of the Phoenix are the 16 rayed Macedonian sun and the tail has 3 feathers, one feather symbolizing each part of Macedonia; Aegean, Pirin and Vardar Macedonia.
Look at the pictures....
MD: Nice, the interesting thing is that Boris makes all of his sculptures with a chainsaw! Some love his work, and some hate it. His previous work, the Sv.Naum statue gets many of humorous negative comments though.
