German government supports the idea of granting Macedonia an invitation for membership in NATO, along with Croatia and Albania, at the Summit that kicks off in Bucharest tomorrow, Greek media quoted German official as saying.
According to him, failure to send invitations to all three countries would send a wrong message to the region.
In the meantime, German Chancellor Angela Merkel had telephone conversations with the Prime Ministers of Macedonia and Greece, Nikola Gruevski and Costas Karamanlis, urging them to reach settlement on the dispute through direct negotiations in Bucharest.
