17 HEADS OF STATES IN OHRID
National.
The 15th Summit of Central Europe Heads of State will be held in Ohrid on May 2-3. A total of 17 state presidents will take part at the largest gathering in Macedonia since its independence, whereas Romania and Italy will be represented by ambassadors.
According to President Branko Crvenkovski, Italian counterpart Giorgio Napolitano is involved in the process of composing the new government, while Romanian President Traian Basescu has domestic commitments.
Pertaining to Kosovo representatives, Crvenkovski said that Macedonia, being the host-country, cannot invite a state towards which it has not built an official stance, and since some of the participant-countries have recognized Kosovo's independence, others not, the consensus on the issue was unattainable.
Crvenkovski confirmed that Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski will address the summit, which is of enormous significance for Macedonia's international position.
Ten of the participant-countries are EU member-states, three have a candidate-status, whereas the rest are in different stages in the Euro-integration process.
