NIMETZ ARRIVES IN SKOPJE
The UN special envoy on name dispute between Macedonia and Greece, Matthew Nimetz, Friday in Skopje will hold talks with Macedonia's top state officials.
Nimetz will hold separate meetings with President Branko Crvenkovski and Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.
The UN mediator will land in Skopje following his Thursday's visit to Athens, where met with Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis.
Nimetz, said Thursday in Athens that he presented several proposals to Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis for settling the name dispute, but declined to reveal any details in this respect. Nimetz told reporters that he had heard the views of the Greek side from Bakoyannis, namely about what may and may not be acceptable for Greece.
Today, Nimetz will present the same ideas in Skopje.
President Crvenkovski and PM Gruevski on Monday held coordination meeting prior to Nimetz's visit. Macedonia's well-known position on further active participation in this process was reaffirmed where the top priority is preserving the identity and dignity of the nation.
