NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

A national conference aimed at discussing the steps and measures to be taken for the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CPD), will be held in Skopje today.

The United Nations Office and with the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy and lead organizations of the persons with disabilities are organizing the event.

The main objective of the conference is to contribute to the formal process for the ratification of the convention and to increase the understanding of national actors of its key features and the requirements and avenues for ratification and domestic implementation.

Macedonia is among the first group of countries which signed the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CPD) on 30 March 2007, the day it opened for signature.

The country is committed to CPD principles and is making efforts to advance the rights of the persons with disabilities in accordance with the international standards.
