NEW ELECTION MODEL PROPOSED

Macedonia’s ruling party VMRO-DPMNE proposes a majority model for election of MPs in one election cycle despite the efforts of its coalition partner DUI to propose a proportional model with open candidates’ lists.
VMRO-DPMNE offers this model as the best model for MPs’ personal responsibility, which is in accordance with the English election model, says Aleksandar Nikolovski of VMRO-DPMNE.
DUI, on the other hand, proposes open proportional lists and one election unit. Model proposed by NDI aims at providing independence to MPs, who are expected to be obedient to their parties.
