ARCHEOLOGICAL RESEARCH AT CAREVI KULI
Culture.
Strumica Bureau for Cultural Monument Protection, in cooperation with the local self-government, has intensified its activities these days in the surrounding of Middle Age fortress “Carevi Kuli” (Tsar’s Towers), which should soon be reconstructed.
Funds in amount of Euro 450,000 have been provided from the European Agency for Reconstruction and the municipal budget.
“A rich archaeological treasury has been found at this site, dating from prehistoric times up to the Middle Age. According to some presumptions, these could be the remains of antique town Astrajon, which is the predecessor of Strumica. However, these bold statements have to be confirmed or denied”, says Bureau director Slavica Taseva.
MD: That's great! Hopefully they will find much more, it's such a rich soil!
