NATO MP'S IN FAVOR OF INVITING MACEDONIA AT NEXT SUMMIT
National.
The Parliamentary Assembly of NATO adopted at the session in Reykjavik a Resolution calling the NATO member nations to invite Macedonia, Albania and Croatia to join the Alliance at the Bucharest Summit in 2008.
The Resolution calls "the Head of States of the NATO member-countries to invite at the next Summit scheduled for April 2008 those aspiring countries that are prepared for membership and whose admission will contribute to strengthening of the security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic zone".
In the document entitled "Resolution on support of the three Adriatic aspirants for membership in NATO", the members of the Parliamentary Assembly are urged to "play an active role in the national parliaments and encourage the process of ratification of the protocols for accession of new NATO members".
NATO chief Jaap De Hoop Scheffer gave an address at the Parliamentary Assembly today, saying that although the invitations for membership "have not been unsealed yet", he was sure that "they will be in Bucharest".
