KOKINO ARTIFACTS DISPLAYED

Culture.

Six years after the uncovering of megalith observatory Kokino, the Kumanovo Museum presented for the first time site artifacts, along with an exhibition of art-photographs by Ljupco Ilievski.

“The exhibition has few artifacts, but they are enormous according to their significance, because the astronomic analysis needs to be supported by archaeology”, said manager of Kokino project, Gjorgji Cenev.

The display represents a completion of the project by the Kumanovo Museum and U.S. Embassy, worth US$ 30,000.
“The project encompassed a number of elements, such as internal arrangement of the site, information boards, road signs, geodetic recording of the site, conservation of archaeological material, as well as the exhibition”, says Museum director Jovica Stankovski.

MD: The Kokino site is really something special, it was discovered in 2002 and since then it was declared as fourth place in the importancy rating list of old megalithic observatories in the world released by NASA.
