EU DONATES LAND ROVERS TO MACEDONIAN POLICE
uropean Agency for Reconstruction (AER) will donate 34 terrain vehicles, Land Rover Defender 110, to the rapid deployment unit.
The vehicles, worth 1.3 million euros, have been specially modified for police needs and are suitable for activities in rural environment as well as for conducting routine policing.
The new vehicles will significantly improve the mobility and the operational capacity of the rapid deployment unit.
The donation ceremony will take place at Gjorce Petrov Barracks in Skopje on Thursday. The EAR's Justice and Home Affairs programme manager Paul Partner will hand over the donation to Macedonian Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska.
The technical assistance from the European Union has been realized through close bilateral cooperation with the United Kingdom, which provided funds for advisory assistance and training of the rapid deployment unit.
