20TH POETRY NIGHT AT VELESTOVO

The jubilee 20th Poetry Night at Velestovo will be held on 14th and 15th August. The programme envisages an exhibiting part with presentation of all participants, poets and painters in the past 20 years besides the ain traditional poetry night at the village fountain outside the Ascension of the Holiest Mother of God Church. For the first time a foreign artist will take part in the prestigious event. Dick Roberts, together with the Macedonian artist Sergej Andreevski will present works on the topic of Alexander the Great.
“We will try to go beyond the boundaries of the country and enrich it with increasing numbers of artists year by year,” Slave Gjorgo Dimoski, the president of the event says. For the Ohrid Mayor, Aleksandar Petreski, 20 years of the event are confirmation of its quality, of something that is worth cherishing.
The jubilee edition will be held in the restored building of the old village school that will develop into a cultural centre open 365 days a year, a gathering place for artists where they can meet and create new works. The centre will have two showrooms, eight suites for accommodation of artists and other cultural contents.
MD: This picturesque village across Ohrid on the Galicica mountain is famous for it's artist who spend much time of the year in the village, to paint or to get other inspiration for their art.
