"THE BEST SINCE ALEXANDER"

Culture.

Macedonian pianist Simon Trpceski got an extraordinary review at the Seattle Times after his concert in Seattle where the Macedonian piano virtuoso performed pieces by Debussy, Prokofiev, and Rachmaninoff. Here is the review from Melinda Garglin:

"The best thing to come out of Macedonia since Alexander the Great is the 28-year-old pianist Simon Trpceski, who returned to Seattle for Tuesday's President's Piano Series — and, like his long-ago predecessor, did some conquering.

The thorniest musical scores just seem to fall over when Trpceski approaches, their most difficult challenges handled with such ease that technique is simply never an issue. This pianist is pretty good at conquering audiences as well as scores, not only with his playing but also with an engaging manner that connects with his listeners. (He announced the dedication of one of his three encores to Evelyn Simpson, one of Seattle's most indispensable artist aides, in a classy gesture.)

The recital program opened and closed with Debussy, a composer to whom Trpceski clearly feels close; EMI Classics has just released his exquisitely nuanced disc of Debussy pieces, which sounded even better live in Meany Theater. The opening "Children's Corner" was full of puckish humor, and surprises in both dynamics and phrasing.

Prokofiev's seldom-heard four "Tales of an Old Grandmother" emerged as charming character pieces, moody and dreamy or angular and acerbic. You don't hear Prokofiev's Toccata in D Minor much on concert programs, either, and it's clear why: It's a work of staggering technical complexity. Trpceski tossed it off as if it were just a trifle.

The pianist's command of pedalling was particularly clear in a Rachmaninoff set, which included some relative rarities as well as some of the big-moment preludes (including the famous one in C-sharp minor, which Rachmaninoff himself was called on so often to play that he came to hate the piece).

The terrific finale, Prokofiev's much-played Sonata No. 7, was one wild ride, with Trpceski's famous clarity transforming the final "Precipitato" movement, in which other players often mash together the fast-arriving and percussive chords. Not this time. You actually could hear every note — what a concept!

The pianist met an ovation with three Debussy encores: the Arabesques Nos. 1 and 2, and "The Girl with the Flaxen Hair," with some of the loveliest playing of the evening."

MD: Bravo Simon! Another source confirming that Simon is really gifted.

Alexander the Great

Greek: Αλέξανδρος ο Μέγας or Μέγας Aλέξανδρος,[1][2] Megas Alexandros; July 20 356 BC – June 10 323 BC),[3][4][5] also known as Alexander III, was a Greek[6][7] king (basileus) of Macedon (336–323 BC). He was one of the most successful military commanders in history, and was undefeated in battle. By the time of his death, he had conquered most of the world known to the ancient Greeks.

The attempts made by Skopians to provide evidences that the so called "Macedonian language" is the idiom spoken around Skopje can hardly persuade anyone. Their language, with the self-contained Slav tongue, was completely unknown until 1944 and no matter how hard one may try will find nothing to prove its existence. The language used by the Slav speaking inhabitants of the Southern Yugoslavia and southwestern Bulgaria was known to be a dilect of the Bulgarian language.

The biggest lie of the century

To contend that their history dates back to the times of the Macedonian dynasty, Skopjan Slavs are committing historical frauds. History records their advent in that region many centuries after Christ: never before. To overcome this historical revelation they further contend that their non-Slavic Macedonian nation had been there and that in the course of history they had lost their being, somehow they were Slavicised and lately re-emerged Macedonian contenders. But history does not hold any other Homeric account of any Odyssey of Skopjo-Macedonians -- a likely fairytale. On the contrary, there are Hellenic evidences in every stage of history.

It's the beginig of the end for the former turkish state of greece.
GO YOU MACEDONIANS .

So many learned contributors...! And of course, Alexander the Great was a fan of Debussy... Those were the day!
By the way, if Greeks are a collection of Greeks, Albanians, Christian Turks, etc... presumably this proves that, a) Greece is the most egalitarian country in the world, since even minorities become Presidents, etc, b) that if you adopt the Hellenic culture, you live better and more fulfilling lives.

"Slav" redirects here. For the former Israeli settlement, see Slav (settlement).

The Slavic peoples are a linguistic and ethnic branch of Indo-European peoples, living mainly in Europe, where they constitute roughly a third of the population. Since emerging from their original homeland (most commonly thought to be in Eastern Europe) in the early 6th century, they have inhabited most of eastern Central Europe, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. [1] Many settled later in Siberia[2] and Central Asia[3] or emigrated to other parts of the world.[4][5]

Slavic settlers mixed with existing local populations and later invaders, thus modern Slavic peoples are considerably genetically and culturally diverse. Yet they are connected by speaking often closely related Slavic languages, and also by a sense of common identity and history, which is present to different extents among different individuals and different Slavic peoples.

Im shore that "there are Hellenic evidences in every stage of history"! And you think that is a prove?!! Fake greek history books?? HA HA HA HA That is only showing to the world how shalow you greeks are!
How about a real prove? It's called GENETICS!!! It is already proved that we the MACEDONIANS are directly conected with the ancient Macedonians, and with that proving that:

1.We are not greeks, and we are here for much longer than the Greeks.

2. We are apsolutely no Slavs who came 600 B.C.!

Here some parts of the study: "The Macedonians are one of the most ancient peoples existing in the Balkan Peninsula, probably long before arrival of the Mucaenian Greeks about 2000BC.""Macedonians are related to other Mediterraneans and do not show a close relationship with Greeks.""Much to our surprice, the reason why the Greeks did not show a close relatedness with all the other Mediterraneans analysed, was their genetic relationship with SUB-SAHARAN ethnic groups now residing ie Ethiopia, Sudan and West Africa.""Macedonians are NOT related with the geografically close Greeks, who DO NOT belong to the "older" Mediterranean substractum".

You greeks went too far with your lies. It is about a time to stop your sharade and to leave us alone! You know wery well that if you recognise the ethnic macedonian minority in Greece, you will became a minority in your country!!!

Well, if Greeks are a minority in their own country, it proves how democratic the country is, with leading politicians from all ethnicities! Now THAT is respect! So join the Hellenic family and climb the ladder...
