ARAPI AND LEVCEV CANDIDATES FOR GOLDEN WREATH

Albanian modern poet Fatos Arapi and Bulgarian distinguished author Ljubomir Levcev have entered the closest competition for Golden Wreath of the Struga Poetry Evenings this year. Out of eight candidates, the managing board of the festival decided to give the award to one of these two authors. The members of the Managing Boars are expected to decide on the winner of this prestigious award today.
Arapi is one of the leading authors in the Albanian literature. His work includes 25 books of poetry prevailed by philosophical poetry, love verses and elegies on the shortness of human life. Arapi is said to have initiated a new modern wave of the Albanian poetry in the late 1960s.
Levcev is one of the most translated and trophied modern Bulgarian poets. More than his 60 poetry and prose works have been translated in 33 countries throughout the world. The winner of Golden Medal of the French Academy, he has been pronounced "The King of Poetry” by the Russian Institute Alexander Pushkin and has won an award from Sorbonne University.
