TEMPERATURES TO RISE ABOVE 40 C

National.

Macedonian authorities made an appeal to the citizens to comply with the recommendations to reduce health risk, as national weather service issued an excessive heat watch for Tuesday.

The National Health Care Institute called on the citizens to avoid hard physical work outdoors, stay in air-conditioned room, shut the windows during daytime highs, stay out of the sun in peak hours, take cold-water showers, wear light clothes, hat and sun glasses.

The authorities called on the residents to drink plenty of water and fluids, to avoid alcoholic beverages and juices containing sugar. Children and pets must not be left in parked cars. The residents were also urged to check up on elder or sick persons.

The residents can dial 0800 1 55 55 for free and get an advice and other necessary information related to high temperatures.

The forecasters said the temperature will hit 41C in the country's south. The ultraviolet radiation level will hit 9, just one point below the maximum.
