US CONTINUES NATO SUPPORT
The new U.S. administration will continue to support Macedonia's efforts to become a member of NATO, US official said on Thursday.
The U.S. support to Macedonia and Macedonia's participation in international peacekeeping missions were the main themes at the meeting of Macedonian Defense Minister Zoran Konjanovski and U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England.
"We reiterated that Macedonian troops alongside U.S. troops and all NATO partners stand ready to participate in the fight against terrorism, and to contribute to global peacekeeping missions," Konjanovski said.
Konjanovski told Radio Voice of America's Macedonian news that Macedonia, after successfully fulfilling its mission in Iraq, is set to boost its military presence in Afghanistan.
