PRESIDENTIAL RACE BEGINS
National.
The official collecting of signatures for presidential hopefuls is underway in Macedonia.
The upcoming presidential elections are likely to be the most uncertain since the country's independence.
The independent presidential candidates have been given 15 days to collect 10.000 signatures to make their candidacy valid.
The candidates with political party's nomination need a backing of least 30 legislators to run for president.
Almost two months to elections, slated for 22 March, it is quite certain that Professor George Ivanov, hailed by VMRO-DPMNE's leading figures, George Atanasovski of the Macedonian Alliance, and the former interior minister Ljube Boskoski will compete in the presidential race.
The situation in the opposition bloc is still not clear.
