MACEDONIA TO ESTABLISH SEA FLEET??

National.

At its last session, the Macedonian Government made a decision to create a sea fleet which will travel to all world destinations under the Macedonian flag, reports Skopje daily "Vest".

Unofficially, Vest states that the Government has narrowed down the 'home' port to two locations. It'll be between Drach and Istanbul. Solun (Thessaloniki), the closest port and former capital of Macedonia, was not mentioned in any of the reports.

The fleet will be formed as a public-private parternship.

In the begining there will be around 10 ships, while the number will increase in the near future. Macedonia aims to become one of the few countries who despite not having sea ports, have developed large sea fleets.

Congratulations!

I assume FYRoM is swimming inside oceans of money. While the rest of the world is trying to cut expenses in order to support their economy, FYRoM is planning to spend it’s money to create.. a fleet!

For what? Just to became “one of the few”.

To michelle,

If you did any proper reading, you would find that The Republic of Macedonia has access to sea ports in albania, for importing/exporting goods. This fleet they are creating is for security reasons. Instead of trying to bash the Macedonian nation every time, why not concentrate on researching your own family history. We've discussed this before and we found out that your family spoke a different mother tongue other than athenian.

Pozdrav,
Your Macedonian friend

Your country may have “access” to many ports, including Salonica’s port. Now, can you explain me what are the security reasons you mention?Secure what? Albania’s port? So, you agree with this, right?
Go ahead, create the glorious fleet to protect (secure) your mountains!

Oh, and by the way, aren’t you bored repeating the same stuff all the time? I have been to both my grandparent’s village on Macedonia and Crete and they were speaking speaking Greek. Also keep in mind that my Macedonian Grandfather did not need negotiator to speak with my Cretan grandfather!

The fleet will most likely be used to offer security of imported/exported cargo and their ships you moron.

The reason your grandparents may have been able communicate is because they were most probably natives of turkey and were transplanted to yunanistan. We have established that they spoke a different language at home other than athenian, you said so yourself.

the Word Greece did not exist in Alexander the Greats Time. so how can he be Greek. and Alexander the Greats Empire was called the Macedonian Empire not the Greek, Atheian, Spartan Empire. The word Greece and your country was formed in the 1830s by the superpower countrys to keep russia out of the region. the region at the time was populated with Albanians, Vlahs, Turkish and Macedonia People most of all. the albaninas have a huge population in Athens at the time and they still do but they where tought to adopt a new lanuage. that language was a acient languange from the (koine).that was founded by a latin student that was currently studying in Germany at the time.

I am so much surprised! You are about to believe everything that your government is serving you!
Congratulations again. This news is the joke of year!
I assume you will name the new mountain port as “Alexander the Great”, “Phillip” or something similar!

And I also want to thank you for knowing so much of my family’s history! I suppose you witness the transportation of my grand – grand fathers, the birth of my grand mother and maybe the birth of me. How old are you by the way?

As for the other “friend” that claim that the word Greek did not existed in Alexanders time I can only laugh because the word Greek (ΓΡΕΚΟC if you can spell “Macedonian”) is older than Hellenic (ΕΛΙΝΑC) and definitely older than other world like Europe (ΕΒΡΟΠΙ).

But I assume this is what your teachers are teaching you and this is what your government wants you to know!

Michelle,

This coming from a guy who has been fed so many lies from your yunanistan government, you athenians cannot distinguish between truth and myth. It is not yunanistan's business if Macedonia plans to create a sea fleet. Nor is it any other nation's business.

No, i didn't witness the transportation of your grandfathers. But anyone with half a brain can do his own research and find out quite easily how your nation was created back in the 1800's. Various races such as turks, vlachs, roma, armenians, jews, Macedonians, bulgarians were turned into ancient 'greeks' overnight. So my question is - where does your family history fit in?

Nobody was 'greek' in Alexander's time, as the term didn't exist. The term was fist coined by the romans, but it was officially given to you yunanistans by a german historian who had a hand in creating your nation in the 1800's. Never before this time was there an athenian nation, and athens was a predominantly albanian village/city.

The Macedonian government is not teaching us anything, we simply do some simple research. You should try to do your own monkey boy, but you may not like the outcome.

The typical yunanistan plan of attack - accuse us Macedonians of doing what you yourselves are guilty of - government sponsored brainwashing.

Back to the drawing board my tourkospore friend.

Hey! Take it easy!

Of course it’s not my business the creation of your fleet. But I have the right to comment it. As I have the right to comment everything! What I said is that in the middle of an economic crisis, this is a stupid move. But hey, it’s not my money!

It’s very funny to hear you, people from FYROM, to call us Turks. I assume you know that Turkey is your best friend and UMD is gaining great support from the Turks. It seems that you have some connection with them... :-)
It’s so funny to hear that from a nation that was under Turkish occupation more time than we did!

To make you anger even more, I present you this link:
Kings Alexander & Augustus (Byzantine Painting)

The picture speaks for itself : ΒΑCIΛΙΑΣ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΣ. (Greeks King Alexander). A painting from 1568.

It seems that at the time, people thought that Alexander was related to Greeks.

PS: A more personal question : I live in Thessaloniki, where do you live?

Michelle,

In reality, your opinion or comment doesn't mean much around these parts. You may have more influence in your own circles, where bullshit reigns supreme.

We call you turks, as the large influx of people that were transplanted after Macedonia's partition in 1913 were from christian turkey. These people now call themselves 'greek macedonians', whatever that means. First you people claim that Macedonians don't exist, then you change your tune and claim that you are the Macedonians. Do you think the world is stupid enough to fall for this crap? Sveta Gora (Mt Athos) was lost to the Macedonians after Macedonia's partition. There is written evidence that the majority of the monasteries on Mt Athos were not 'greek' but M________n (i'll let you fill in the blank). I'd put my money on these paintings being compromised. Hell, you people have done this before with regards to churches and gravestones belonging to Macedonians in the past...

I see you say that you live in Solun (Thessaloniki). I encourage you to find out about your roots, not for my sake, but for your own. You may be 'greek' today but the tale of your forefathers would paint a different picture. I'd put money on it. The history of Solun (Thessaloniki) and atrocities that happened there are recent enough for us Macedonians to remember. No amount of athenian government propaganda can rewrite the history of the region. It's not important where I am from. What is important is that I am Macedonian ethnically, without a suffix or a prefix.

Pozdrav,
Your Macedonian friend

BUT THAT PAINTING THAT YOU JUST SHOWED DOES NOT SAY THE WORD GREEK ANYWHERE. OR EVEN HELLENS. SORRY GREEK WORD DID NOT EXIST THEN.

Alexander the Great at age 20 started 334 BC the war against Persia. 35,ooo Macedonian and Greek "professional" soldiers in battles at the Granikus.
In 146 BC Macedonia and Greece became direct Roman provinces.

Painting does not mean anything.
Turkey and Alexandria have most of the historical artifacts.

Very nice guys! Very nice!

One says that the paintings have been compromised. The others sees no Greek or Hellenic word! Well for them all I can say is that they are blind or they expect these painting to be written in English. On the upper left is written ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ (Simple Greek that an 8year old child can read) and above the left figure is written BACIΛΙΑC ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟC. While the C is not used in modern Greek, the rest of the words are used and make perfect sense. These words are in Greek my friends and telling something that you don’t like!

Oh.. and by the way. the Panteleimonos monastery is considered as Russian. Now, I suppose the Russians can claim mount Athos, maybe all Chalkidiki and maybe all Greece! Right?

As for my Macedonian friend, I can assume that you are living outside FYROM. Probably Canada or Australia, being a descendant of people that participated in the civil war and abandon Greece because simply you lost the war and you were afraid of the consequences.

Being thousands of miles away you think you know everything about monasteries, change of names and the rest that somebody are teaching you were in fact you may never visited your homeland.

I suggest you to pay a visit to the region first, then start talking...

lisen that word that you spelled that you said is on the top right hand corner is not the same. trust me i know how to read Greek. and that word does not spell hellenic trust me.

Michelle,

You arrogantly believe that the byzantine empire was athenian, when this is far from the truth. Byzantium's origins lay with Roman Emperor Diocletian's decision to split the Roman empire into two administrative parts, being east and west. The 'Byzantine empire' was nothing more than the Eastern Roman empire. The Byzantine empire (eastern Roman empire) was a multinational empire encompassing all the many different ethnicities of the east, initially united under the Latin language.Due to the fact that athenian had been the common (koine) language of trade and diplomacy of the eastern Meditteranean, the Latin language was eventually dropped as the offical language of the empire in favour of athenian as it was still the common language of trade and diplomacy at the time. The use of the athenian language alone did not make the many different ethnic groups of the Byzantine empire ethnically 'athenian' and nor does its use by todays multi-ethnic modern athenian population make them it's heirs. An example of the multi-ethnicity of the byzantine empire can clearly be seen in it's rulers eg. Justinian was born in Taor, present day Republic of Macedonia. Constantine the Great was born in Nis, present day Serbia.

A quote for you reference:
The oldest documents found in Sveta Gora (the ones that have survived), are written in the Macedonian language, and nearly all the monasteries (in Mt Athos) are Macedonian. -A. E Vacalopoulos: (History of Macedonia 1354-1833), p.166-7

So, what made the byzantine empire 'greek'? Nothing.

Michelle, the Macedonians didn't abandon Macedonia, the majority were forced out after 1913. Others were assimilated into being 'greeks'. My guess is that if you do not have a Macedonian background, you are most likely a remnant of christian turks who were transplanted into Macedonia after the native Macedonians were shipped out or converted into 'greeks'. That's the reality of the area in which you occupy, like it or not.

The million dollar question is - what will these christian turks do when the Macedonians and rightful owners lobby to have their houses and lands returned? The ottomans were great record keepers, and the archives have been opened to those Macedonians who have a claim...

PS. I have visited Solun (Thessaloniki) and the surrounding areas many times. I've seen it with my own eyes.

Pozdrav,
Your Macedonian friend

WIKIPEDIA IS NOT A VALID SITE, WELL KNOWN FACT AROUND THE WORLD. USE OTHER SITES FOR VALID HISTORY.
MICHELOS MICHELOS IS THAT YOUR REAL NAME LOL; I AM NEITHER GREEK OR MACEDONIAN. STOPPING PEOPLE FROM BEING THERE TRUE CULTURE AND IDENTITY IS SHAMEFUL. GREECE HAS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. IF MACEDONIA WANTS A FLEET SO BE IT. GREECE HAS THERE OWN SO BUTT OUT.

RUSTI VISKO DVRO RISJANSKO

So, what do you say now? That the Byzantine Empire was FyroMacedonian? Is this what you say now? I never mentioned Byzantines. Why do you?

OK, let me examine YOUR reference :
History of Macedonia 1354-1833

On the very first paragraph it says “This province of Southern Macedonia constituted the most important centre of the Orthodox faith and one of the foremost seats of Hellenism during the years of Turkish occupation”.

Hopefully, you can understand this. I need to say no more.

As for my background, you like talk about it over and over. It seems that it excites you somehow! But please, can you tell us what have you seen in Thessaloniki that I haven’t?

As for the friend that wants me to trust him (who is he anyway?) and believe that what I read is not Greek... can he answer me what is it? Is not Greek, not English then what is it? How the hell am I reading it?

michelle,

You are more delusional than i thought. First you provide evidence using byzantine paintings, then you claim not to bring up byzantines?!?! You should concentrate on what you contribute to your argment, because you are not even sure yourself.

You mention southern Macedonia, but what about the whole of Macedonia? It is clear through evidence that Macedonia had people of different races, especially in coastal areas (people which you call 'greek'), but the majority were Macedonian, hence the term Macedonia.

I only bring up your background to show that you yourself do not have a clear picture of your own history, yet you like to debate our Macedonian existence as if you know about that as well. A fellow countryman of yours sums it up in a interview - Ilias Petropoulos -

"Take a look at Karamanlis for example. His mother is a Slavic speaker and his father is a Turkish speaker. How about Manolis Andronikos? How Greek is he? This is not an exception; this applies to every Modern Greek. Every Greek has his own non-Greek story. That is why "Greeks" like these have an inferiority complex and need to boast about their Greek-ness, need to play the "super patriot card" and hold lectures on patriotism."

Every 'greek' has his own non-'greek' story. This statement sums it up about you guys.

I have seen many things in Solun. I have spoken to many Macedonians who were born there, in the Macedonian language. You know, the people that you say don't exist.

Find out about yourself before negating our existence. It seems you are the one that doesn't quite exist...

Pozdrav,
Your Macedonian friend.
