IVANKOVIC APPLIED FOR MACEDONIA NT COACHING JOB

Famous Croatian coach Branko Ivanković has officially applied for the position of a coach of the Macedonian national team, after Katanec resigned recently. In his career, Ivanković has been coaching the national team of Iran and Dinamo Zagreb and has been the assistant of Ćiro Blažević in the Croatian national team, amongst other positions of course.
Branko Ivanković has arrived in Skopje today to negotiate his potential taking over the position of a coach of the national team. He was introduced to the current situation in the team and in the federation, the chances for reaching the second place in the 9th qualification group and the financial conditions if Ivanković is to take over the job.
- 'I think Macedonia has quality players and on the matches against Croatia and England they have shown they are able to produce good results. I believe that firstly we should get the atmosphere back on high level, once again, along with the self-confidence.' said Ivanković.
The president of the football federation said that this negotiations are far from final one and still they will discuss with two Turkish coaches and one Serbian. On Wednesday, FFM's top people will discuss whether the new coach will be a foreigner, or not. So far, no Macedonian coach has applied for this job.
Branko Ivanković has been the coach of Varteks Varaždin, Segesta and Rijeka before taking the assistant manager of Croatia role in the period of 1997-99. He has also spent one season in German Hannover 96 and then moved on to coach Iranian national team. His latest position was coach of Dinamo Zagreb.
MD: These are still just speculations, nothing official yet, even though l'equipe newspaper and several other media informed that he is the new coach. Other mentioned names for the job are; Dino Zoff, Lothar Mattheus, Cedomir Janevski, Bosko Gurovski and former Chelsea coach; Avram Grant.
