TOURISM IN OHRID DROPS

National.

According to an analysis made by Macedonian organization of tourist professionals HOTAM in the period from June 12 to July 12, the region of Ohrid and Struga recorded a lower number of tourists compared to the period from April to May.

This is primarily due to the fact that in the springtime, foreign tourists were visiting the region. Number of tourists dropped 6-8 percent compared to last year, HOTAM says, due to poor promotion on fairs, drop in tourist package offers by tourist agencies and due to weather.

I am not surprised at the drop in tourism and it would seem that whoever is in charge of tourism in Ohrid is making sure that it will continue.

At the moment, I am staying in Ohrid and I am finding it impossible!! The noise from live music means I have all my windows closed and I can still hear it at top volume!!

What a disgrace.

This country only deserves the low quality tourists that they are getting and we must make sure that any quality tourists are made aware of just what this place is turning into.

I agree entiely with the comment cocerning the nightly " noise " from "music", live or otherwise.
Since when did the BONGO feature in Macedonian music?
The volume is unnescessarily loud and contitutes a " nuisance".
If Macedonia has any aspirations of European membership the local authority in Ohrid should put an immediate stop to this annual "hijacking" of Ohrid by young people.

Where are the authorities? to allow this volume after 12.00pm when some people ( less and less ) are actually visiting Ohrid because they want to see it's " so called " beauty.
I hope that more income bringing visitors will see fit to complain and tell others to stay away from Ohrid.

Humm, I visited there in the spring and didn't have a single problem with noise.

Because we are talking about the season, biggest visits are in august, it isnt normal, with the noise, all the nightclubs, all the christmas tree prostitute house look-a-like boats until 4 am, Ohrid should be a exclusive place, not a second costa del sol or Crete where young people make the whole region look cheap kitsch. Also every day there is fireworks, anyone who has their birthday goes on a christmas tree boat at 3 am and fires fireworks. Ohrid city should do something to that.
