Macedonian authorities on Tuesday will disclose new data on the largest quantity of cocaine ever seized by Macedonian authorities.
Nearly 500 kilos of high-quality Venezuelan cocaine, valued at 46-92 million euros, were seized two days ago at the border crossing of Blace.
The truck picked up the cocaine in Montenegro and entered Macedonia through Kosovo. Its final destination was Greece.
The drug was found in plastic paint containers hidden in a truck with Macedonian registration plates. The driver was arrested on suspicion of drug smuggling.
Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said on Monday that several suspects from Macedonia and the neighboring countries have been involved in drug smuggling.
Macedonian Customs official said the shipment was discovered upon information from UNMIK Customs. The international institutions and foreign missions in Macedonia were taken by surprise with the large quantity of seized cocaine.
