National.
Yesterday was the last day of the 2006/2007 school year for approximately 320,000 Macedonian primary and high school students.
The nine-year primary education will start as of 1 September 2007 and is to encompass the children who will turn 6 by the end of the year. The nine-year education will be divided into three educational stages: first-third, forth-sixth and seventh-ninth.
The nine-year primary education is being implemented in order to harmonise the Macedonian educational system with the European one.
As of 2008/2009 school year, the high school education will be mandatory, whereas primary schools students will be introduced to mandatory religious education with an opportunity to select between religious instructions and history of religions.
MD: 'Finally vacation!' are they all saying. Macedonian kids can finally relax a bit! Enjoy the summer!
