The new school 2007/2008 year in Macedonia started for more than 323.000 students in Macedonia.
23 thousand first graders will start studying by the new concept of nine-year primary education, which will run in three tuition periods - from first to third grade, from fourth to sixth grade and from seventh to ninth grade.
"In general, the nine-year primary education started successfully this year, except in some schools where we have some problems that could be solved", said State Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Science, Pero Stojanovski.
The new curriculum envisages more classes in mother tongue, English language lessons since first grade and a second foreign language as of sixth grade, and more classes on sports and health education, as well use of computers.
"The Ministry of Education and Science invests maximal efforts to create better and quality conditions in the education. The reforms will be completely successful if all important factors in the educational process work on them - the teacher, the student and the parent. This relation is important component for successful learning and successful education process", said on Monday Minister of Education Sulejman Rushiti on the ceremonial opening of the new building of the "Kuzman Josifovski-Pitu" school in Kicevo.
